Floated Side BF Series Ball Screw Bracket

Floated Side BF Series Ball Screw Bracket

The BF series is a unitized floating end support bearing unit for ball screws. Its core design allows the inner ring of the bearing to float axially relative to the outer ring. Its main function is to support the ball screw shaft, withstand radial loads, and compensate for thermal expansion of the ball screw caused by temperature rise, preventing deformation, noise, or even jamming of the system due to thermal stress. It is a key component for ensuring the smooth operation of long-stroke, high-speed ball screw systems.

Technology

The core value of the floated side BF series ball screw bracket lies in the perfect balance of "rigid support" and "flexible compensation." It complements the fixed end (BK series) to form a complete and reliable support system.

Characteristic Dimensions BF Series Support End (Floating End) Bearing Housing Fixed-end support (BK series)
Core Functions Auxiliary support and thermal compensation end: Provides radial support and allows axial free movement to accommodate thermal expansion. System reference and load-bearing end: withstands bidirectional loads and provides axial rigid positioning.
Internal Bearings Deep groove ball bearings, primarily designed to withstand radial forces, with no axial locking. Pairs of angular contact ball bearings, preloaded to withstand bidirectional loads.
Axial Positioning Non-locating, allowing free movement. The bearing inner ring is fitted to the lead screw shaft with a clearance fit or secured by an elastic retaining ring, permitting axial sliding. Rigidly positioned and locked, with no axial movement.
Load-bearing Characteristics Primarily designed to withstand radial loads, with virtually no axial load capacity. High capacity, withstanding bidirectional axial and radial forces.
System Function Eliminates thermal stress and prevents bending or abnormal loading caused by thermal expansion in long-stroke lead screws. Provides a rigid reference for the system, transmitting torque and thrust.

Main Technical Parameters and Design
Bearing Configuration: Typically uses a single-row deep groove ball bearing. The axial clearance of this bearing allows the ball screw shaft to move freely when heated and elongated, avoiding harmful axial preload.
Sealing and Lubrication: Similar to the fixed end, it comes with contact seals and is pre-filled with grease, achieving maintenance-free or long-period maintenance.
Mounting Interface: The inner bore's fit with the ball screw shaft is usually a clearance fit (such as H7 tolerance), ensuring both radial support and unobstructed axial movement.
Accuracy and Compatibility: The bearing accuracy is sufficient for most industrial applications (usually P6 or P5 grade). It is fully compatible with standard metric ball screw shaft diameters, and the hole spacing and dimensions of its mounting flange are often consistent with the same specifications of the BK series, facilitating symmetrical design and machining on the equipment base.
Mounting Method: Also uses a square flange mounting, which is simple to install and structurally stable.

Applications
The BF series is a standard component for all long-stroke, high-speed, or equipment with large operating temperature differences that use ball screws, especially suitable for:
Long-stroke CNC machine tools: X/Y/Z axes of large gantry milling machines and machining centers.
High-speed automation equipment: High-speed handling robots, stacking machine lifting axes in automated warehouses.
Precision measuring equipment: Large-format coordinate measuring machines, laser scanners.
Any ball screw drive system with a stroke exceeding 1 meter or operating at high speed with significant temperature rise. The floated side BF series ball screw bracket is a "smart and flexible unit" in ball screw system design.  Although seemingly insignificant, it is crucial for achieving long lifespan, high reliability, and trouble-free operation of the system. Choosing the BF series means you have a deep understanding of and have properly addressed the thermal management issues in precision machinery, providing vital assurance for the long-term stable operation of the equipment. Together with the rigid BK fixed end, they complement each other, forming the perfect foundation for linear motion.
